Frequently Asked Questions When it Comes to Replacing Your Roof

When it comes to deciding if it’s time to replace your roof, you might have a few questions.  From understanding if your insurance will cover the costs of replacements to the types of upgrades you can get on your existing roof, the questions can be endless. However, we’ve compiled four of our most frequently asked questions and answered them for you!

  1. What if my roof is old, will my insurance company still pay for it?

Absolutely. If you have had any type of storm related damage, your insurance company will cover it. It doesn’t matter the age or condition of your roof.

  1. How will my insurance company pay for my roof if I don’t have any leaks?

Your roof may not be leaking currently, but if your roof experiences any storm related damage further down the road, it will leak. When the sun hits a hail or wind damaged roof for a long amount of time, it eventually causes problems from over-exposure to sunlight. So, if you notice your roof is in need of replacement, no matter how minor, consider getting it replaced right away to avoid any problems in the future.

  1. Other roofers have told me I don’t have to pay my deductible, why do I have to with Storm Guard?

There are plenty of roofing contractors that don’t collect deductibles, and that is insurance fraud. If you are aware of this situation, then you are just as guilty of insurance fraud as the contractor.

  1. What if I want to put a metal roof on?

Your insurance company will only pay for what is existing on your roof. So, if you’re looking to upgrade you will be responsible for paying that extra cost. You can add proper ventilation, upgrade your shingles to a more durable brand or upgrade to metal. The options are endless, but the upgrades will cost you.
